History of Casa Linda Estates
Residential development in Casa Linda Estates started in the late 1930s and picked up considerably in the early to mid 1940s. During this time, the area was still located in the city of Reinhardt, which was annexed by the city of Dallas in 1948. The land was originally a farm owned by the Brown family, who began developing the land for residential use during this time. The neighborhood was almost entirely built out by the mid 1950s. A few homes were torn down and new homes built in their place in the early to late 2000s.

Casa Linda Estates Homes and Neighborhood Characteristics:
Casa Linda Estates has some unique neighborhood characteristics which make it an attractive place to live in East Dallas. Many of the streets are wide and form curves throughout the neighborhood. Mature trees are abundant throughout the neighborhood along the streets and on virtually every lot. Casa Linda Estates also has a wide variety of home styles ranging from small cottages and ranch style homes to tudors, contemporary/modern and even English-style homes. The original land developer was fond of the Spanish-style architecture, which is apparent in the design of the Casa Linda Plaza shopping center that they also developed, and the streets in the neighborhood are named after Spanish words and themes.
The lots in Casa Linda Estates also tend to be quite large relative to many other areas of East Dallas. The average lot sizes of sold homes tend to be around half an acre with some lots as large as a full acre or more. The size of homes also has quite a range, with homes ranging from as small as just over a thousand square feet to well over 4,000 square feet. Most homes in the neighborhood are three and four bedroom homes with at least two full bathrooms, but a few two and five bedroom homes exist. Most homes have two car garages, although homes with more or fewer garage spaces exist, including some that have no garage but may have some type of covered parking, such as a carport. Several homes in the neighborhood also have swimming pools. A few homes in the neighborhood also have separate guest quarters / garage apartments with kitchens and bathrooms.
- Home Styles – Original homes tend to be cottage, Tudor, Mid-century Modern, Early American and ranch-style. Newly-constructed homes are often Contemporary/Modern-style or traditional.
- Floor Plans – Range from smaller, original homes with as little as two bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths all the way up to five or more bedrooms for newer construction and older homes which have been expanded over the years. The large lot sizes allow for more expansion on homes than other areas of East Dallas.
- Home Sizes – Original homes that have never been expanded may be as small as 1000 square feet whereas newer construction or homes with additions may be well over 5,000 square feet. The average home is around 2,500 square feet.
- Lot Sizes – The smallest lots in Casa Linda Estates are just under 1/3rd of an acre, but the largest lots are well over a full acre with a select few being more than two acres. The average lot size is just over half an acre.
- Age of Homes – The vast majority of homes in Casa Linda Estates are either original or have been expanded on the original footprint. A few newly constructed homes have been built over the last 10-20 years. The average home was built in the late 1940s or early 1950s.

The Casa Linda Estates Neighborhood Association
Casa Linda Estates has a neighborhood association that is very active in the Casa Linda neighborhood and East Dallas community. Membership in the neighborhood association is voluntary and dues are paid annually. The association meets once a month.
