Eastwood is a neighborhood located in the East Dallas, TX area to the north and east of White Rock Lake and adjacent to the neighborhoods of Lochwood to the north and east, Old Lake Highlands to the north and west and Lake Park Estates to the south.  The neighborhood boundaries are Peavy Road to the southwest, Lake Highlands Road to the northwest, Easton Road to the northeast and Lake Gardens to the southeast.

History of Eastwood

The residential subdivisions in the Eastwood area were developed during the early 1950s and continued until the late 1960s and feature many one and two story ranch-style homes and cottages.  Most of the homes were built on pier and beam foundations and many have hardwood floors.   The majority of single family homes in the area are between 2-4 bedrooms, 1-3 bathrooms and most have 1-2 car garages.  Some of the mid-century modern homes do not have garages, but most have carports.

Eastwood Voluntary Home Owner’s Association

A voluntary home owners association called the Eastwood Home Owners Association was formed in the late 1990s to serve the interests of residents in the Eastwood neighborhood.   The home owners association is very active in the community, hosting annual events such as the Neighborhood Night Out, an easter egg hunt, a July 4^th parade and an annual picnic.  They also have a crime watch and events hotline (information in links at bottom of page).

Residents of Eastwood enjoy the recreation and entertainment available in the East Dallas and White Rock Lake area, including:

• White Rock Lake and surrounding parks.  Most areas of Eastwood are within one mile of the east shore of White Rock Lake.
• The Lochwood Library  – A state of the art public library that’s located in the adjacent neighborhood of Lochwood.
• Restaurants, shopping and entertainment are all very close by, including Goodfriend, Hello Dumpling, 20 Feet seafood restaurant, and Greenville Ave Pizza Co.   Eastwood is very close to Casa Linda Plaza, located at Buckner and Garland roads.
• Eastwood Park, located in the neighborhood.
• The neighborhood is known for its large, mature trees  – There are plenty of public areas available to walk your dogs and enjoy a stroll.

Hexter Elementary is located in the adjacent neighborhood of Old Lake Highlands just a short distance from Eastwood (and possibly walking distance from some areas of Eastwood). Hexter has consistently been one of the best performing elementary schools in all of Dallas ISD.  Hexter also has a very high level involvement and support from parents and the local community.  Hexter has  periodically received many distinctions from TEA and is a past winner of the coveted Blue Ribbon award,

Robert T. Hill Middle School is located on Easton Rd. in Old Lake Highlands.  Hill has a STEM academy that includes classes on science and technology, automation and robotics, computer science, and flight and space.
