Lake Park Estates is a neighborhood of 288 homes located just east of White Rock Lake, southwest of the Eastwood neighborhood and southeast of Old Lake Highlands.  It sits in the northern corridor of the “X” formed by the intersection of Buckner and Garland road behind the Casa Linda shopping center and is accessible from both Buckner and Garland road.  The neighborhood lies entirely in the city of Dallas in the 75218 zip code.

Lake Park Estates is located close to many attractions in East Dallas, including White Rock Lake and its adjacent trails and parks, Lake Highlands Park, The Dallas Arboretum and lots of shopping and restaurants in the Casa Linda shopping center.  The neighborhood streets are named after Irish locations and themes, such as “Donegal”, “Kilarney” and “Limerick”.

The boundaries of the Lake Park Estates neighborhood are generally considered to be the back of the Casa Linda shipping center to the south, Lake Highlands Park to the west, Peavy Road on the northeast and Garland Road on the southeast.

History of Lake Park Estates

Residential development in Lake Park Estates started in the late 1940 and continued until about 1960.  Home styles in Lake Park Estates are predominately one story ranch-style homes with a select few contemporary and midcentury modern homes.   Most are three bedroom homes with two full bathrooms, but some two and four bedroom homes exist.  Most two bedroom homes in the neighborhood have at least one full and one half-bath, with many having two full baths.   A few smaller three bedroom homes only have one full bathroom.

One notable difference in Lake Park Estates compared to many neighboring subdivisions is that lot sizes tend to be larger, with some lot sizes as large as a half-acre or more, although some lots are comparable in size with those in adjacent neighborhoods.  Most homes also have a two car garage, although a few only have a one car garage or no garage at all but may have a carport.   Lake Park Estates also has some hills in the neighborhood, which are relatively rare in Dallas.

Lake Park Estates has a very active neighborhood association comprised of volunteer members.  The association hosts many social events, including a fall picnic, movie night, mom’s night, spring block party, Christmas lights contest and a “yard of the month” award.  The association also publishes a quarterly newsletter and volunteers maintain a section of the Buckner Road traffic island, removing trash and weeds.  Membership is 100% voluntary and dues are paid annually.  The neighborhood also has a Facebook group and Twitter account to discuss neighborhood issues, such as neighborhood social events and lost and found pets.  Home buyers who desire a sense of community and who value all of the activities and entertainment options available in East Dallas will love Lake Park Estates.

Lake Park Estates is conveniently located close to both Buckner and Garland road, which make it easily accessible to LBJ Freeway.  Buckner dead-ends at Northwest Highway, which leads to LBJ Freeway to the east and Central Expressway to the west.
