Lakewood Heights is a neighborhood that lies west of Lakewood and White Rock Lake in the greater Lakewood area of East Dallas, TX. The total size of the neighborhood is approximately 220 acres which is just over one-third of a square mile. Approximately 1,000 homes are located within the neighborhood. The boundaries of Lakewood Heights are Monticello Avenue to the north, Skillman Street to the west, Richmond Avenue to the south, and Abrams Road to the east.
History of Lakewood Heights
The first homes in Lakewood Heights were built in the 1910s and 1920s. By the 1940s, almost all lots had homes. Tietze Park, the nine acre park that lies on the west side of the neighborhood, was formed in 1924 and has undergone substantial renovations and improvements over the last 15 years. Today, it is one of the most frequently-used parks in the city of Dallas.

Lakewood Heights Homes and Neighborhood
The Lakewood Heights neighborhood has some of the most architecturally significant homes in Dallas. The Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association
Lakewood Heights has a voluntary neighborhood association (The Lakewood Heights Neighborhood Association) that serves to protect various interests of neighborhood residents, promote area businesses and prevent crime in the neighborhood. Membership in the association is voluntary and the modest dues go towards improving life for all residents of the neighborhood.
The association has volunteer committees that oversee neighborhood services, zoning issues, communications, crime watch, traffic, Tietze Park, social events, fundraising, and the Yard of the Month Award. The neighborhood association also has volunteers from each street that serve as block captains. The neighborhood association either sponsors or promotes various social activities and events throughout the year in Lakewood Heights.

Lakewood Heights Schools

The south side of Lakewood Heights is served by Geneva Heights Elementary located at 2901 Delmar.
Middle School (Grades 6-8) The Lakewood Heights neighborhood lies in the attendance zone of J.L. Long Middle School located at 6116 Reiger Avenue just a short distance south of Lakewood Heights. J.L. Long was recently accepted into the International Baccalaureate middle years program which provides a framework which seeks to make practical connections between students’ schoolwork and the real world.
