Ridgewood Park is a small neighborhood of approximately 500 homes that lies about a mile northwest of White Rock Lake. The boundaries of Ridgewood Park are Abrams Road to the west, Lovers Lane to the north, Fisher Road to the east, and the Ridgewood Trail to the south. The neighborhood is very accessible to White Rock Lake and major thoroughfares of the Dallas area, and also lies on the north side of the Ridgewood Trail, a jogging and cycling trail which runs east-west through East Dallas. Ridgewood Park is located in the 75214 zip code.
History of Ridgewood Park
The first few homes were built in Ridgewood Park in the mid-1903s and early 1940s along Fisher Road. Most of the residential development took place between 1953 and 1959, with the neighborhood being completely built-out by the late 1960s. Over the last 10-20 years, a number of newly constructed homes have been built in place of ones that were torn down.

Ridgewood Park Homes and Neighborhood Characteristics
Ridgewood Park still retains its mid-century charm today, with unique home styles scattered among wide streets and abundant, mature trees throughout the neighborhood. The lots tend to be larger than average relative to most neighborhoods in East Dallas, and the homes are a bit larger than the average-sized home built during the mid-20th century era.
- Home Styles – Ridgewood Park mostly consists of mid-century and ranch style homes on pier and beam foundations. There are a few Tudors and contemporary homes in the neighborhood as well.
- Floor Plans – Mostly two and three bedroom homes with at least two full baths, many with at least one half bath.
- Home Sizes – The smallest homes in Ridgwood Park are less than 1,000 square feet, while the largest are over 4,000. The average home is around 1,700 square feet.
- Lot Sizes – Lots range from a low of around .16 acres (7,000 square feet) all the way up to just under one full acre. However, the average lot size is around .25 acres and lots over .35 acres are quite rare.
- Building Restrictions – Ridgewood Park is subject to city zoning restrictions, but does not have any zoning overlays (such as a NSO, conservation or historic district).

Ridgewood Park is located in the heart of East Dallas close to White Rock Lake, which is the recreational focal point of East Dallas. The lake is very popular with joggers, cyclists, and all-around nature lovers.

- The Mockingbird Commons and Lakewood Village shopping centers are located at the nearby intersection of Abrams and Mockingbird roads and feature a number of both small and large shops and restaurants.
- The Lakewood Shopping Center is located at Abrams and Gaston which also has a significant number of restaurants and bars, including the Cock and Bull and Sugarbacon.
Recreation in the Ridgewood Park Area
- Ridgewood Park – a 10.9 acre park established in 1954 that featuures a basketball court, pavillion, picnic tables and a grill, portalets, tennios court, kids sprayground, trials, garden areas.
- Ridgewood Park / Belcher Recreation Center – Located in Ridgewood Park, the facility features a fitness center, gymnasium, kitchen, large meeting room, picnic areas, and a playground. - White Rock Lake – The recreational focal point of east Dallas lies just south of Ridgewood Park and is accessible via the SOPAC Trail that connects to the Ridgewood Trail on the south side of Ridgewood Park by the rec center.
Ridgewood Park Neighborhood Association
Ridgewood Park has a voluntary neighborhood association that charges a modest annual fee of $30 per adult or $15 for senior citizens. Residents can sign up for the Ridgwood Park newsletter to receive information about community and neighborhood events.
